Youth Safe Rider Course

The Brantingham Snomads Snowmobile Club will be hosting a Youth Safe Rider Course on Saturday, January 23rd, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Glenfield Fire Hall, 6229 Blue Street, Glenfield, New York.  Lunch will be provided.

Youths MUST be at least 10 years of age to take the course.Pre-registration is required by calling the Lewis County Cooperative Extension Office M-F 8am to 4:30pm at 376-5270.  Space is limited.

Youths ages 14 through 17 years old may operate a snowmobile, on lands upon which snowmobiling is allowed, without adult or other supervision if they have completed a snowmobile training safety course recognized by NYS. If the youth ages 14 through 17 years have not completed the training course, they may operate a snowmobile if accompanied by (within 500 ft) of a person who is at least 18 years of age.

Youths ages 10 through 13 may operate a snowmobile, on lands upon which snowmobiling is allowed, if they have completed a snowmobile safety training course recognized by NYS and are accompanied by (within 500 feet of) a person who is 18 years of age.

Children less than 10 years of age or less than 14 without a safety certificate may operate a snowmobile only on lands owned by their parent or guardian.

A non-resident operator who is a resident of another state or country and is the holder of a valid snowmobile safety certificate issued by that state or country shall be considered as the same as a holder of a NYS safety certificate.
