Youth Safe Rider Course

The Brantingham Snomads Snowmobile Club will be hosting a Youth Safe Rider
Course on Saturday, January 14, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Glenfield
Fire Hall, 6229 Blue Street, Glenfield, New York. Lunch will be provided
by the snowmobile club.
To take the course, youths must be at least 10 years of age as of the
day the course ends
Preregistration is required by calling the Lewis County Cooperative
Extension Office M-F 8:30am to 4:30pm at 315-376-5270. Space is limited
to 50 students.

Youths ages 14 through 17 years old may operate a snowmobile, on lands upon
which snowmobiling is allowed, without adult or other supervision only if they
have completed a snowmobile training safety course recognized by NYS. Youths
ages 14 through 17 years who have not completed the training course, they may
only operate a snowmobile if accompanied by (within 500 ft) of a person who
is at least 18 years of age.
Youths ages 10 through 13 may operate a snowmobile, on lands upon which snowmobiling
is allowed, if they have completed a snowmobile safety training course recognized
by NYS and are accompanied by (within 500 feet of) a person who is
18 years of age.
Children less than 10 years of age or less than 14 without a safety certificate
may operate a snowmobile only on lands owned by their parent or guardian.
A nonresident operator who is a resident of another state or country and is
the holder of a valid snowmobile safety certificate issued by that state or
country shall be considered as the same as a holder of a NYS safety certificate.
